The Companion is divided into three sections: a chronological survey, from the Middle Ages to the modern era; a geographical survey, including Latin America, Africa, and Central-Eastern Europe as well as Western Europe and the US; and a group of topics ranging from post-colonialism to gender construction that illustrate the intersection of the classical tradition with contemporary theory.
