[ xxviii ] The Way International describes itself as a non-denominational biblical research, teaching and fellowship ministry. The movement grew out of the teachings of Dr Victor Paul Wierwille (1916–85), whose ‘Power for Abundant Living’ (PFAL) classes, originally started in the USA in 1953, attracted members of the J esus movement in the late 1960s; it is claimed that 100,000 had participated in them by 1983. The movement offers a number of other courses in Wierwille's theology, which rejects conventional understandings of the T rinity , accepting that J esus is the son of God, but not God the Son.
