Turkish scholar. He was born in Bodrum. He was first a teacher and inspector in the Jewish and Turkish schools of Rhodes and Smyrna. Later he lived in Egypt, where he edited the Ladino newspaper La vara . He encouraged the acculturation of Turkish Jewry to its homeland, and fought for Jewish rights.
