Glanz, Leib (1898–1964)

American cantor and composer. He was born in Kiev and held cantorial positions at Kishinev and in Romania before emigrating to the US in 1926. He served as cantor of the Ohev Shalom Synagogue in Brooklyn and of Heikhal Sinai Synagogue and the Shaarei Tefillah Synagogue in Los Angeles. In 1954 he settled in Israel and became chief cantor of the Tiferet Żevi Synagogue in Tel Aviv. He founded the Tel Aviv Institute of Religious Jewish Music. ... log in or subscribe to read full text
