Horowitz, David (1899–1979)

Israeli economist. He was born in Galicia and settled in Palestine in 1920. From 1935 to 1948 he was director of the Economic Department of the Jewish Agency. From 1948 to 1952 he served as director general of the Ministry of Finance. After he left his ministry post he worked to establish the Bank of Israel, of which he became the first governor in 1954.
