Spanish historiographer. After the conquest of Malaga in 1487, he was sent by Spanish Jewish communities to raise funds for ransoming Jews captured there. When the Jews were expelled from Spain in 1492, he settled in Lisbon. From 1497 he was compelled to live as a Converso, but he later emigrated to Italy. His Shevet Yehudah is a narrative describing the persecution of the Jews from the destruction of the second Temple until his own time.
