American Reform rabbi and community leader. He was born in New York. He served as national director of the B'nai B'rith Hillel Foundations from 1947 to 1956, and later as rabbi of Fairmount Temple in Cleveland. From 1966 he was president of the American Jewish Congress, and he was also appointed general chairman of the Jewish Welfare Fund campaign of Cleveland.
