Mountain in the wilderness of Horeb on the Sinai peninsula. The Book of Deuteronomy identifies Mount Sinai with Mount Horeb and they are thus sometimes confused. The Israelites camped at the foot of Mount Sinai after the Exodus from Egypt (Exodus 19.1), and Moses ascended the mountain to receive the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20.1–24.8).
