Polish writer. He was born in Mszczcnów, near Warsaw, and from 1903 to 1905 he wrote for the Warsaw Hebrew paper Ha- Tzopheh. He published a collection of Hebrew stories in 1905; this was followed by five collections in Yiddish. A disciple of Isaac Leib Peretz, he helped resolve the struggle between Hebraists and Yiddishists at the Czernowitz Yiddish conference in 1908. After 1910 he engaged in politics and journalism. In 1916 he was a founder of the Polish People's Party, and later was a member of the Polish Sejm.
