Rocky site in Jerusalem, to the north of the original City of David. In ancient times it formed part of the eastern fortification of Jerusalem. According to Nehemiah (3.27), it was situated between the tower of the royal palace and the water gate, and in his day the Temple servants (Nethinim) lived there.
