(“corner”) Term used specifically of the corner of a field, in connection with the rules on gleaning. GLEANINGS are one of the obligatory gifts to the poor (Leviticus 19.9–10; 23.22), and the Bible specifies that they should be left at the corners of a field that is being harvested. The rabbis taught that at least one-sixtieth of the harvest should be left.
