Hungarian scholar. He was born in Nagyvárad. He was a rabbi in Csurgó (1887–92), and an instructor at the Jewish Teachers Training Institute in Budapest (1892–4). From 1894 to 1902 he was a professor at the Lehranstalt für die Wissenschaft des Judentums in Berlin. He spent the rest of his life in a sanatorium.
