(Hebrew “Aseret Yeme Teshuvah”) The name given to the first ten days of Tishri, from the beginning of the New Year to the close of the Day of Atonement. According to tradition, individuals are judged at the New Year and the judgment is proclaimed on the Day of Atonement; clemency may be obtained through sincere repentance during the Ten Days of Penitence.
