Town in Lower Galilee. It was an important center of learning during mishnaic and talmudic times. Around 140, at the end of the period of persecution following the Bar Kokhba revolt, the surviving scholars reestablished the Sanhedrin there; among those who served as nasi in Usha was Simeon ben Gamaliel II.
