(“And a redeemer shall come unto Zion”) Opening words of a prayer used in various services. It is one of the concluding prayers in the morning service; on Sabbaths and festivals it is recited in the afternoon service; on the Day of Atonement it occurs in the concluding service; and, except for the first section, it is incorporated in the Saturday evening service. The prayer consists of Isaiah 59.20–21; Isaiah 6.3; a prayer based on verses from I Chronicles, the Book of Psalms, and Micah; and a prayer for enlightenment in understanding the law (made up of verses from Psalms, Jeremiah, and Isaiah). ... log in or subscribe to read full text
