Farrer, Austin Marsden (1904–1968)

British theologian and philosopher. A student and chaplain at Oxford and a contemporary of C.S. Lewis, he was Warden of Keble College from 1960 until his death. An Anglo-Catholic who emphasized logic and the interdependency of faith and reason, he wrote in the areas of philosophical theology ( Finite and the Infinite , 1943; The Freedom of the Will , 1957; and Faith and Speculation , 1964), other theology, especially New Testament exegesis, and the theory of language. 1985 : A Hawk among Sparrows: A Biography of Austin Farrer .
