The worlds of the entrepreneur and entrepreneurship researchers are changing dramatically. The changes are due to the rapidly converging intersection of the entrepreneurial revolution of the 1980s in the United States with the free market revolution in Europe. This has resulted in a globalization of the marketplace, and with it, new opportunities for growth, new competitive structures and new ways of doing business. In the world of academic research the intersection of the two revolutions in conjunction with major technological changes in communications has resulted in new opportunities for international research, joint research projects and a sharing of research findings. This has provided a new impetus to entrepreneurship research that has no national boundaries. Significant and rapid changes, combined with new opportunities can be both exciting and difficult. Many European countries are still struggling with the economic, social and political problems associated with a free market economy. The revolution will not be short and even though the impetus is there, some things change slowl. These changes are reflected in this, the fifth state-of-the-art and the first international state-of-the-art in entrepreneurship research book.
