Terry L. Amburgey [Organizational Ecology; Organizational Evolution] is Professor of Strategy and Organization at the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto [E-mail: amburgey@rotman.utoronto.ca ]. His current research focuses on the evolution of organizational networks, learning races among organizations, social issue framing and dynamic modeling. He has authored several articles on organizational ecology and organizational change, which have appeared in Academy of Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, and Strategic Management Journal . He received his Ph.D. in sociology from Stanford University. Linda Argote [Intraorganizational Learning] holds the David M. and Barbara A. Kirr Chair in Organizational Behavior in the Graduate School of Industrial Administration and (by courtesy) in the Department of Social and Decision Sciences, Carnegie Mellon University [E-mail: argote@cmu.edu ]. Her research interests include group and organi zational learning, memory, knowledge transfer, and performance. Recent publications include Organizational Learning : Creating, Retaining, and Transferring Knowledge (1999) and “Knowledge Transfer in Organizations: A Basis for Competitive Advantage in Firms,” with P.
