Slav: Oktoich. Byzantine rite liturgical book, also known as the oktoechos , containing the texts for the offices in the eight tones. Each tone has its own hymns and antiphons. The anastasimatarion contains the Oktoechos texts for Sundays. Joseph the Hymnographer (ninth century) had a major influence on the final form of the Parakletike.
