( c .409– c .491) Son of King Buzmir of Georgia, as a boy Murvan was a hostage in constantinople . Becoming a monk, Peter, in Palestine, in 452–3 he was consecrated bishop of Maiuma in Gaza, but continued to live the monastic life. Firmly anti-Chalcedonian, he exercised great influence on severus of antioch , who studied in his monastery. A moderate monophysite , he accepted the henotikon of Emperor Zeno.
