Ovid's works are referred to throughout the volume by the following standard abbreviations: Amores (Am.), Heroides (Her.), Ars amatoria (Ars), Remedia amoris (Rem.), Medicamina faciei (Med.), Metamorphoses (Met.), Fasti (Fast.), Tristia (Tr.), Ibis (Ib.), Epistulae ex Ponto (Pont.). All translations are the authors’ own, unless otherwise indicated. References to other authors follow standard conventions to be found in, for example, The Oxford Latin Dictionary or Liddell and Scott.
