She is only mentioned at the end of The Professor (see ch. 25), and then it is suggested that his not marrying her is the cause of his odd, bitter character. Frances Henri suggests that she was independent, broke away from conventional constraints, perhaps was on the stage, and this was why Hunsden could not break free of his own social constraints and marry her (unlike William Crimsworth and Frances Henri).
