notable tenor of great fame in and around Yorkshire, who was a native of Haworth and frequently performed there. He was probably the man who “for fifty years has had one of the finest tenor voices I ever heard” who is mentioned in an insertion to ch. 2 of Gaskell’s Life (p. 434). He was painted by Branwell in December 1838.
