Afe Adogame holds a PhD in History of Religions from Bayreuth University, Germany. He now teaches Religious Studies/World Christianity at the University of Edinburgh, UK. His special fields of teaching/research include: Religion and the African Diaspora, African Religions, Sociology of Religion, and Method and Theory in the Study of Religion. Dr Adogame has ethnographical expertise in African Christian communities in continental Europe (especially in Germany and the UK) and in the USA. He is the author of Celestial Church of Christ: The Politics of Cultural identity in a West African Prophetic-charismatic Movement (1999); (co-edited) European Traditions in the Study of Religion in Africa (2004); Religion in the Context of African Migration (2005); Christianity in Africa and the African Diaspora: The Appropriation of a Scattered Heritage (2008); and Unpacking the New: Critical Perspectives on Cultural Syncretization in African and Beyond (2008). He is on the Editorial Board of several scientific journals including the Journal of Religion in Africa; African Diaspora: A Journal of Transnational Africa in a Global World; International Studies in Religion and Society; and is Associate Editor of the Studies in World Christianity .
