Green, University of Delaware The English School section of the International Studies Association (ISA) is a small and relatively new section, formed in 2000 and first chaired by Paul Sharp, then myself, and currently by Cornelia Navari. It is the only section of the ISA with a theoretical approach as its focus, as opposed to a topical theme. Its creation has done much to promote the growth and expansion of scholarship from within the English School (ES) and also marks the “relaunching” of the school around this time (an initiative led primarily by Barry Buzan). An efflorescence of new writing from within the English School has followed in the last decade or so. The list of topics for our essays for this compendium was initially composed in consultation with Ioannis Stivachtis and Barry Buzan, and then vetted by several other ES and non-ES scholars.
