(b. West Overton, Pa., 19 December 1849; d. New York, N.Y., 2 December 1919) An entrepreneur who rose to be a millionaire through the coal business by 1880, Frick then became a steel executive and rose to be chairman of Carnegie Steel Co. While directing its response to the H omestead strike , in which there were 10 deaths, Frick himself was shot. In 1901 he and J. P.
